Children's Book Review and Giveaway: "Miss Olive Finds Her Furever Friends," by Susan Marie and Miss Olive

I have a special treat today for dog lovers: Miss Olive Finds Her Furever Friends! In this adorable children's picture book by Susan Marie and Miss Olive, children learn that Miss Olive is having a birthday, which will be celebrated by heading to the dog park! Unfortunately, not all the dogs there will be friendly. In real life, children see this scenario play out in their real lives when they find that school mates and neighborhood kids aren't always friendly. But in reading this book, children will learn that friends are out there if we look for them and open our hearts. This story about friendship and anti-bullying will charm the whole family!

About the book:
Miss Olive Finds Her Furever Friends continues the story of a little Italian Greyhound with three legs who is adopted by a loving family in the award-winning first book in the series, Miss Olive Finds Her Furever Home. In Miss Olive Finds Her Furever Friends, Miss Olive learns that it’s her birthday and that her parents have planned a special celebration which will include treats, presents and friends. Her party is nearly ruined when she runs into a couple of grouchy dogs at the park who proceed to bully the poor pup. She realizes that true friends will stick by her and won’t join in with taunts from bullies. Miss Olive is thrilled to discover that she not only has a “furever” home, but she has “furever” friends as well.

The first book in the Miss Olive series, Miss Olive Finds Her Furever Home, won the DWAA Maxwell Medallion for 2018 Children’s Book of the Year from The Dog Writers Association of America. The book was also awarded the Bronze 2019 Moonbeam Children's Book Award in the Animals/Pets Fiction category. The award is an honor that “identifies the best children’s books published every year in the North American market.” In addition, Miss Olive Finds Her Furever Home received top honors from the National Parenting Product Awards (NAPPA).

Children's Book Spotlight: "Lola Benko, Treasure Hunter," by Beth McMullen

Indiana Jones meets The Lost Property Office in this action-packed mystery about a young girl searching for her father from the author of Mrs. Smith’s Spy School for Girls -- the first in a new series!

Having a world-traversing archaeologist dad means twelve-year-old Lola Benko is used to moving around and not putting down roots anywhere. But every day and every hunt for something hidden is an adventure, and no matter what, she and her dad are an unbeatable team.

Then her father disappears. The official story is that he was caught in a flash flood, but Lola’s research shows the day in question was perfectly pleasant. And it will take more than empty reassurances from suspect strangers for Lola to give up on her dad. She has a feeling his disappearance has to do with a mythical stone he was studying -- a stone so powerful, it could control the world. But in the wrong hands, it could end it, too...

With the help of some new friends at her school, it’s up to Lola to go on the most important hunt of her life.
