A question for the author: I'm wondering, why did he name his main character Fred- just because it rhymed with Knucklehead or for another reason?

  2. Hi Nancy! Great question. His name is Fred as a nod to Fredrick Douglass. The character's full name is Frederick Douglass Willams. Thanks for asking!

  18. The title made me laugh, because "knucklehead" is what my grandpa would always call us when we were acting foolish. As far as the cover goes, I know what that my own young kids use the cover picture to tell whether they'd like the book. The illustration is good, but it doesn't really give early-literacy kids much information about what the story will be about.
