Movie Review: "I Feel Pretty" Starring Amy Schumer

NOW AVAILABLE ON BLU-RAY, DVD AND DIGITAL!

About the movie:
Amy Schumer stars as Renee, a woman who struggles with feelings of insecurity and inadequacy on a daily basis. After suffering a fall, she wakes up believing she is suddenly the most beautiful and capable woman on the planet. With this newfound confidence, she is empowered to live her life fearlessly and flawlessly, but what will happen when she realizes her appearance never changed?

My thoughts:
Renee is convinced that beautiful people have all the doors opened to them, while she is denied opportunities because of her ordinary appearance. Thus, she lacks self-confidence and never dares to go after the jobs or the boyfriends she desires. But when a knock on the head has her believing that she's one of the beautiful people, she boldly goes after the job and the man she wants -- not realizing that her personality and smarts are what actually earn her the job and the man now that she's not afraid to show them. She soon sees that even the beautiful people get dumped and fail in business, and that by showing her talents and going after her goals, she finds far more success than by just being pretty. The supporting cast is perfect, especially Michelle Williams' turn as the beautiful but squeaky-voiced head of the cosmetics firm that Renee works for. At the end of the film, I really felt that I got the message that I'm perfect just the way I am.
