Exclusive Interview with Victoria Simcox, Author of “The Magic Warble,” Plus a Giveaway!

What is this book about?

Because I have a synopsis on my website,, which I think is the best way to describe it without giving too much away, how about I give you the underlying message: Even if you don’t fit in, you feel lonely or maybe you’ve been harassed or bullied, there is always someone out there who will be your friend, and it could be someone you least expected. You may not see yourself as special, but again, there is someone out there who does. Entwined throughout the pages of The Magic Warble is a message of hope, perseverance, love, and faith.

How did you get the idea for this book?

I remember I was sitting in the movie theater watching the first Harry Potter movie when I envisioned my main character, Kristina, walking down a snowy sidewalk. At the time, that’s all of the story I had. Somehow inspired, I went home that night and wrote the first page of my story, not knowing where it would go.

Is this your first book? If not, what else have you written?

This is my first book. I have also written the sequel, The Black Shard, which is now available in book form as well as ebook, on Amazon, B&N and other online bookstores. You can learn more about both books at

Do you have any advice for beginning writers?

To aspiring writers: read what you want to write. Hone in on your writing craft and, above all else, “be patient.” Also read other genres of writing other than the type you write. You can get inspiration from totally different genres than your form.

Why did you decide to write a book in this genre?

Ever since I was a small child, I have always loved fantasy and fairy tales. Now that I’m an adult, juvenile and young adult fantasy fiction are still my favorite genres to read. I chose to write a children’s fantasy because of my great imagination that I felt I’d like to put to good use. I also love children and the fact that they have such vivid imaginations and a sense of wonder. Being an elementary school art teacher, I get to hear all about the books my students are reading, and I love how excited they get when they explain their favorite stories to me.

Do you have a website? How can we order this book?

Yes, and The best price for it will be on Amazon at
