Keep America Beautiful with Glad Black Bags by Bidding on Beautiful “Recycled” Wildlife Art by Mosaic Artist Jason Mecier!

There’s nothing worse than picking up a bag of garbage and having the contents break through, spreading trash all over the ground! Most of us have had that experience because we’ve used low-quality bags that couldn’t handle the job. Here in south Florida, we have a lot of beautiful plants, trees and flowers that grow all year round, but that also means we’re trimming all year and hauling a lot of vegetation out to the curb for the garbage truck. We also have two cats, and the contents of their litter box also go in the trash each day. Thankfully, I don’t worry about breaking trash bags because Glad Black Bags have something they call “ForceFlex,” which makes them extra strong and tear resistant! These bags have a “unique diamond texture” so they stretch around the objects inside to prevent tears. We love the large 30- and 33-gallon sizes for handling all of our trimmings from the yard. I’m also excited to try the Glad OdorShield Black Bag to neutralize the odors from our cats’ litter box!

Of course, before anything goes into a trash bag in our house, we check to see if a particular item can be recycled. All of our newspapers and magazines, as well as plastic and glass items, go into the appropriate bin to be taken to our local recycling center. To encourage everyone to recycle, Glad Black Bag has formed a very fun partnership with the Picker Sisters -- interior designers Tracy Hutson and Tanya McQueen. They’re big believers in the old adage that “one person’s trash is another person’s treasure,” and they teach people how to repurpose old or broken items in new ways to make them beautiful or useful again.

In addition, Glad Black Bag has teamed up with mosaic artist Jason Mecier to create four works of art made entirely out of people’s trash! These items have been collected during Great American Cleanup events across the country, as well as donated by celebrities like Jesse Eisenberg, Raphael Sbarge, and Nathan Kress. And here’s something really cool: They’re actually auctioning off these works of art on eBay to raise money for the Keep American Beautiful (KAB) Great American Cleanup event! From now through April 26, 2012, you can bid on these works of art at You can see these beautiful pieces pictured on this post. Which one is your favorite? I love the bear!

I hope you’ll join Glad Black Bag, the Picker Sisters, and artist Jason Mecier to make our world a cleaner place by recycling as much as possible and turning your trash into treasure! As for the rest, be sure to place it in a Glad Black Bag so the contents stay in the bag and don’t break through and make a mess. Now, please head over to eBay at to bid on the beautiful artwork before the bidding ends on April 26th!

DISCLOSURE: I wrote this review while participating in a blog tour campaign by Mom Central Consulting on behalf of Glad Black Bag and received a Glad Black Bag product and a promotional item to thank me for taking the time to participate.

  1. Since my little one was born I have realised that we can all do more in terms of safeguarding children and looking after the future of the planet. This change in my life has encouraged me to recycle more and live greener so thanks for these details
