What to Expect Series: The Most Trusted and Bestselling Guides for Expectant and New Parents (GIVEAWAY; 2 winners)

I owned several books on pregnancy and childbirth when I was expecting all four of my boys, but my absolute favorite was always What to Expect When You’re Expecting, by Heidi Murkoff and Sharon Mazel. It was so comprehensive; it was rare that I couldn’t find the answer to a question I had. I loved how it showed what my baby looked like each month, how he was developing, and what he was doing. And whenever I was mystified by a particular symptom I was having, my fears were usually eased after reading about it in What to Expect. Whenever anyone asks me what pregnancy book to consult, What to Expect When You’re Expecting is always my #1 recommendation. The book is currently in its 4th edition, so the information is current and valuable.

Not surprisingly, this highly popular book has led to several spin-offs, including What to Expect the First Year and What to Expect the Second Year. Everything from sleeping issues to medical problems to behavioral milestones is covered. Again, just about any topic you can imagine is contained in these books! On the website,, you can find additional information on pre-conception, pregnancy, baby’s first year, and toddlerhood! There are also groups where you can interact with other expectant and new parents.

If I were to go through pregnancy and early childhood again, I would be picking up the newest editions of the books in the bestselling What to Expect series. And they’ll definitely be on my shopping list when those grandchildren start rolling in! These are must-have gifts for any expectant parents! Find out more about this phenomenal series through the links below.

  26. I really enjoyed reading this book. It answered alot of questions that I had, however, it was not what I expected. I thought it would be a book that described what you were going through each month of pregnancy. It was more like Q&A about things that could happen during each month. Good read but not a great manual.
