Spark Your Child’s Creativity and Imagination with Kiwi Crate!

Children between the ages of three and six are always busy, busy, busy! It’s tough to come up with activities that will keep them interested for more than a few minutes. If this describes your little one, you may want to consider a subscription to Kiwi Crate! Every month, Kiwi Crate delivers a box full of hands-on fun to your doorstep with plenty of activities to engage your child.

Each Kiwi Crate has a certain theme, such as Gardening or Dinosaurs. The Kiwi Crate I received for review was called “Colorful Inspiration”! When the Kiwi Crate arrived, it looked like this…

Here is what I saw when I opened the box!

As you can see, it shows pictures of two crafts that are enclosed: “My Stained Glass” and “My Spinning Colors.” Inside the box were all of these wonderful materials!

My sons decided to do the Spinning Colors craft. Using the markers enclosed, we colored each paper disk in crazy designs!

Then we placed each one on the two tops included and spun them! It was fun for the kids to see how the colors changed when they were spinning. One very colorful top looked plain brown when it was spinning! Another one looked almost completely white. Check out the “still” and “spinning” photos of the following top!

My boys really had a lot of fun decorating and spinning their tops. Also inside the crate was a card that said “Explore More!” It gave a link to a web page for additional projects related to the month’s theme. On the back of the card were instructions for one of the crafts -- a tissue paper dyed bag. My Kiwi Crate even included a plain canvas bag and a dropper for doing this craft! All of the activities were age-appropriate for kids 3-6 and have been tested by kids. I love how the card included a “Messiness Meter Alert” telling parents that this particular craft can get a “bit messy” and to be sure your child is wearing a smock or old clothes and the work surface is covered.

If you’d like some really fun projects to do with your little boy or girl, subscribe to Kiwi Crate! You can order Kiwi Crates month-to-month, annually, or in gift sets of three-, six-, or twelve-month periods. Visit Kiwi Crate through the links below!

Weight Watchers Ice Cream: A Smart Choice!

We had quite a gang here for Christmas with my parents visiting, my oldest son over and my second son home from college. At one point, we were all in the mood for ice cream, so I pulled some Weight Watchers ice cream bars out of the freezer. I could tell by the looks on everyone’s faces that they were thinking at first, “Weight Watchers ice cream? That can’t taste as good as the ‘real’ thing!” But then they all took a bite and started raving about it! “This is really from Weight Watchers?!” They couldn’t believe it. “This is SO good!” I kept hearing that reaction over and over again.

My parents have been trying to stick to a diet, so they were thrilled to read that the Weight Watchers Chocolate Dipped Strawberry ice cream bar was only 100 calories! Made with low fat strawberry ice cream with a strawberry swirl dipped in a milk chocolate flavored coating, it was absolutely scrumptious. My dad said he was going to look for it on his next grocery shopping trip! My favorite variety is the Weight Watchers Dark Chocolate Dulce de Leche ice cream bar. It contains low fat dulce de leche flavored ice cream with a caramel swirl dipped in a dark chocolate flavored coating. Yum! It’s just 120 calories, with 4.5 grams of fat, and 0 grams of trans fat. We tried two other varieties of Weight Watchers ice cream bars, and they were all huge hits.

If your New Year’s goal is to pay more attention to what you eat, but you still want to indulge in a delicious ice cream treat now and then, I encourage you to pick up the Weight Watchers ice cream varieties in the blue and white boxes. Your taste buds will think you’re eating a high-calorie snack, but your brain will know better. Our family will definitely be eating more Weight Watchers ice cream in 2012!

Congratulations to Damian, the Skylanders Winner!

The picture below put a huge smile on my face! Damian’s mother, Donna, won the Skylanders Spyro’s Adventure Starter Pack on Susan Heim on Parenting, and gave it to ten-year-old Damian for Christmas. As you can see from the photo, Damian was thrilled with the gift! In fact, the whole family has been enjoying the game together. Thank you, Donna, for sharing this wonderful photo. And congratulations to Damian!

Star Wars Fans: Check Out These Fantastic Costumes!

With four sons, we have a lot of Star Wars fans in our house (and that includes me, too)! We have Star Wars movies, video games, figurines, books, and costumes! A fantastic place to get Star Wars costumes for the whole family is at WholesaleStarWarsCostumes. They have an enormous selection of Star Wars costumes, and their prices are fantastic. For instance, the Star Wars Clone Trooper Captain Rex costume my son received is only $19.90! Here’s what it looks like:

As you can tell, my son loves it! I was really impressed by the detail on the costume. It fits my son well, and he really likes to play in it. The helmet has a thicker elastic band on it that’s less likely to break than the usual thin elastic often found on masks. Two straps meet in the middle and fasten with Velcro so you can adjust the size to more comfortably fit your child’s head. I think this costume is going to last through plenty of lightsaber duels!

At WholesaleStarWarsCostumes, they have costumes for girls…

…costumes for boys…

…costumes for adults…

…and even a Star Wars costume for the dog!

If someone in your family is a Star Wars fan, you’ll want to check out the huge variety of costumes at WholesaleStarWarsCostumes. In addition to costumes, they also have masks and accessories, such as lightsabers, gloves, and toy blasters. May the force be with you!

DISCLAIMER: I received one or more of the products mentioned above for free using Regardless, I only recommend products or services I use personally and believe will be good for my readers.

No More Lost Baby Socks with Sock Ons! #GIVEAWAY US/CAN

My youngest “babies” may be eight now, but I still remember how difficult it was to keep socks on their little feet when they were crawling around. I’d constantly find them on the floor, in the car, or even lost entirely because they wouldn’t stay on those adorable and chubby little feet. I wish Sock Ons had been available then!

Sock Ons were invented by a mother of five children who, like me, got tired of chasing down her babies’ socks! So, she created these little elasticized sleeves that go over the socks and keep them in place. Watch this video to see Sock Ons in “action”! This adorable little girl is trying her hardest to pull off her socks, but just can’t do it with the Socks Ons.

[Email subscribers, please click on the title of this post to view the video online.]

Sock Ons come in lots of different colors and are available in two sizes: 0-6 months and 6-12 months. If, like me, you’re no longer chasing babies around, Sock Ons make adorable, practical and unique baby gifts! Head over to to learn more about this ingenious product and find out where to purchase Sock Ons!

One lucky winner will receive a pair of Sock Ons! To enter, simply fill out the Rafflecopter form below.

CONTEST CLOSED. Congratulations to the winner: Emillie Rose!

Merry Christmas to All!

When they saw the star, they were overjoyed. On coming to the house, they saw the child with his mother Mary, and they bowed down and worshiped him. Then they opened their treasures and presented him with gifts of gold, frankincense and myrrh. (Matthew 2:10-11)
