Father’s Day Gift Guide: My Dad, My Hero, by Ethan Long

When it comes to gift giving, my boys love to give books to their dad that they can read together! This year, we found the perfect book for Father’s Day: My Dad, My Hero, by Ethan Long. Not only is it about a boy and his dad, but it made my kids laugh out loud, which is a sure sign of their approval!

This colorfully illustrated children’s book begins with a young boy listing all the ways his dad is NOT a superhero. For example, he cannot fly (and the picture shows him falling off a ladder). He does not have super strength. (Mom is shown opening the pickle jar after Dad can’t do it.) And he does not wear a cape under his regular clothes. (However, the picture shows, he has toilet paper coming out of his pants!) But, of course, the child’s dad is still SUPER and he’s a HERO because he spends a lot of time with his son catching baseballs, going to the movies, playing games, and more. Dad may not be as perfect as a superhero, but the little boy loves him nonetheless. What a great message!

I hope you’ll pick up a copy of My Dad, My Hero for your children to give to their dad for Father’s Day. And CLICK HERE to download a very special My Dad, My Hero Father’s Day card that your kids can color and present to Dad with their gift!
