Five Great Gifts for a One-Year-Old’s Birthday

Guest Post by Lior

What do you buy a one-year-old as a birthday present? Buying gifts for toddlers isn’t always easy, but you can simplify your life by selecting one of these great gifts. Some of them the kids will have to grow into, but it’s always a good idea to stretch your kids mentally and physically so they can move on to the next stage when they’re ready.

Big Kids Rocker

Mothers often sit in rocking chairs with their babies and toddlers. What could be better than nursing or looking through a book in a comfy chair? Now toddlers can experience this in their own chair -- the Big Kids Rocker. This lightweight, sturdy toddler chair has a removable seat and is easy to assemble. You can add rocker bumpers to limit the rocking motion (good for younger children). This beautiful rocking chair is themed to match the accompanying book, Once Upon a Blue Moon, and your toddler will be thrilled to sit and read in it.

First Toddle

Your one-year-old will soon be toddling and walking, so why not consider an all-in-one activity center? First Toddle offers just that. It’s a great developmental toy to help your child crawl, reach, explore, pull, stand, cruise and walk, and it’s fun, too. It includes an activity mat, a mesh tent, a mini hoop for ball games, a mini-goal for other board games, a couple of stuffed toys, some hoops and more. This is an award-winning toy that will help your child’s development over the next few years.

Nursing Cover

Okay, this one is more for the mom than the child, but if your one-year-old is still nursing, he or she might appreciate the privacy that this Mint Chocolate print nursing cover by Bebe au lait brings. This is one that the celebs use. Not only will it cover you completely when nursing, while still allowing you eye contact with your child, but it can also be used as a sunshade to help shield your baby from the sun.

Fridge Phonics

Give your child a head start in learning the alphabet with the LeapFrog Fridge Phonics Magnetic Alphabet. Just stick it on your fridge and watch your child learn. It teaches letters, phonics and the alphabet song to help your child’s language development. Your one-year-old will develop motor skills by placing one of the 26 letters in the slot and pressing it to hear the sound and song. This award-winning toy will last your child for years, as even after learning the letters, your toddler will enjoy singing along to the songs.

Table and Stools

Toddler-sized furniture is so cute that you should get some for your child’s room. The P’kolino Chalk Kids Table and Stools includes two benches and a table with a reversible top. One side has a chalk board where kids can draw. Lift it up and flip it over to hide your child’s artistic endeavors. As a bonus, there’s storage for art supplies under the lid. This stylish and durable play table (available in white and orange) will be a hit with your child.
