Book Review and Giveaway: The Nanny Factor, by Candi Wingate

I was very excited to read The Nanny Factor by Candi Wingate, founder of Nannies4hire.com. I have been a nanny for the past 14 years, with experience in both live-in and live-out situations. The worst part of all the years of being a nanny was the dreaded interviews. I know it’s scary for both parties involved -- the parents looking for somebody to take care of their precious gems and the nanny for wanting to take on that responsibility. I have been VERY lucky with my families with the exception of a few. And I had to turn down several jobs after the interview left me with a bad taste in my mouth.

Reading this book gave me insight into what parents are looking for and should look for in hiring a nanny and what the difference is between a nanny and a good ol’ babysitter. Lucky for me, I have never had to hire a nanny. Sadie did have a babysitter for a few months before we moved back home, and I think the lady thought I was crazy when I had a whole list of interview-type questions to ask her! (I think my husband did, too!)

The Nanny Factor is a great book filled with information about nannies, hiring them, what to expect from them, and what they expect from you. Communication is a big part that both the nanny and the employer need to commit to. If there is no communication, the relationship between the nanny and the employer can get heated, and then things turn sour. Candi has offered valuable information that will make the hiring process easy, and you will be sure you did all you could to hire the right nanny for your family.

Candi Wingate is the founder and president of Nannies4hire.com, Care4hire.com, and Babysitters4hire.com. She knows her stuff, and the book is worth picking up, even for us nannies!
