ReplyDeleteWow, if having a destructive dog is what it takes to write a book about is then I could write three. I have a chocolate lab, Beau, who ate the legs off a rocking chair that is the only thing I have left of one of my grandmothers. I have a pit, Max, that ate our love seat and couch when we brought him home. He also ate a hole in the bedroom door and ate a hole in the mattress on my bed. Did I mention that was all several thousand dollars worth of brand spanking new furniture? And lastly we have a rat terrier, Huck, who ate half my Christmas gifts and half hubby's receipts to turn in for his expense account for us to get the money he spent back from his company. Is this enough or shall I go on? Haha, yep, I have some stinkers. Maybe reading about someone else's bad doggie would make me feel better about mine. I love them though like they're my children.

My dogs have not been as destructive as lewalk's, but they try! One marks his territory (which is really disgusting and I haven't been able to stop it). One dog who chews everything - he particularly loves my husbands expensive work socks, but he's chewed through the cross bars of all the kitchen chairs, a few shoes; between him and the "marker" we have lots of woodwork that needs replacing. Then there is Tater, who is neurotic, tall, and too smart for his own good. He helps himself to whatever is on the counter (quite a few meals have disappeared this way - we never learn) and has broken a bowl or two by pulling the towel wrapped around the bread. He's also a digger, so I have to keep checking the pasture so no one breaks a leg. I adore those brats, but I'm so glad when doggy bedtime arrives!

My dog Jerricka destroyed the couch and Josh completely demolished the basement door and railing.
ReplyDeleteI had a husky who would eat anything. She once chewed and ate a bank envelope with 50 dollars in it. She chewed and ate a jar of vicks, a roll of scotch tape, a brand new pair of my son's shoes that cost me over a hundred dollars because of his size, they had to be specially ordered for him. That is just a few things.

I have a pomeranian and he's all hair and teeth--when we first got him he chewed up every cushion on the couch and dug holes in the carpet--what a mess--even today you can't keep a throw rug in the house--it's a pomeranian magnet. :)
ReplyDeletei have a pomeranian that chews up everything--he loves slippers, pillows and carpet--so far he has "dined" on every one in my house--with him--don't even think of having a throw rug--that's just a little snack for him :)

My sheltie was destructive when she was a puppy. She gnawed on yearbooks, CD cases, movie cases, hats, etc. She used to pull the tablecloth off the table! She'd take underwear outside through her doggy door. Luckily, she outgrew that and is so SWEET and well-behaved now!

My daughter has a Golden Retriever named Arthur who ate a stuffed Shrek that I had brought for my grandson. I thought that I had put it up pretty high, but Arthur was still able to get it. When I went downstairs, Arthur was devouring Shrek. I broke down crying, and my daughter said that she would just buy another one for my grandson. I just went on to bed. The next morning when I came down for breakfast, Arthur followed me to the kitchen. When I turned around, he had that "I'm really sorry" look on his face. He knew that I was hurt by his actions, but I quickly forgave him when he apologized in his own way.
ReplyDeleteThank you,
Christine

I'm lucky, my doggy hasn't really ever done anything bad. One time she did get into the garbage in the middle of the night and made quite a mess in the kitchen

What hasn't my dog done? Most recently we bought 2 matching couches from ikea that I am in love with...and then he decided to eat half of one of them. Not too long before that he ate a lap top charger which was pretty pricey to replace.
