What Is the Latest Kid Craze? Googly Bands!

Just for today, I was “Cool Mom.” That’s because I gave my son something that all of the kids have been clamoring for: Googly® Bands! These shaped rubber bands have been selling out like crazy in stores across the country. So, being able to snag two packs of Googly Bands for my six-year-old son definitely raised my stature in our household today!

In case you’ve been unaware of all this madness, Googly Bands (and other products that go by similar names) have been gracing the wrists of kids everywhere! These stylish rubber bands come in various shapes and colors, and kids can collect and trade them. You wear a bunch of them at a time so they really make a statement, like this:

My son received Googly Bands shaped like Farm Animals and others shaped like Mobile objects, such as planes, boats, and bicycles. Here he is with his bands (note the happy smile on his face!):

Googly Bands come in a wide variety of other design packs, such as Dinosaurs, Musical Instruments, Sports, Insects, Fantasy, and much more. And new designs are coming out all the time.

Googly Bands is also hosting a very fun contest that allows kids to design their own style of Googly Bands! The winner of the Googly Bands Design Contest will receive a $50 gift card and the chance to design their own Googly Bands! The submission deadline is July 18, 2010. Details are available on their website at

Googly Bands are available at Walgreen’s, Walmart, Toys ‘R’ Us, Supervalu, Publix, Rite-Aid, and Christmas Tree Shops. You might want to call the store before you go because Googly Bands sell out fast! Click on the following links to learn more about Googly Bands.
