Help Pepsi Spend $20 Million Through the Pepsi Refresh Project!

You won’t be seeing an advertisement for Pepsi during the Super Bowl this year. That’s because Pepsi has decided to use their resources -- $20 million worth! -- to fund the Pepsi Refresh Project. This endeavor will support projects, both big and small, designed to improve our communities.

How will Pepsi decide what projects to support? It’s up to you! Each month, Pepsi will offer the opportunity for people to submit a worthy project in one of six categories: health, arts & culture, food & shelter, the planet, neighborhood, or education. At the end of the month, Pepsi will post the top submissions on their website, and the public will be able to vote on who should win grants ranging from $5,000 to $250,000!

Round 2 of the Pepsi Refresh Project starts today, February 1, 2010! You can participate in two ways: 1) Submit a request for a needed improvement in your community for the March round of events. 2) Go to and vote for February’s grants.

If you’re a parent or an educator, I encourage you to share this project with your children. Does your local park need upgrading? Is your library in need of new computers? Is there a teen program that could use some supplies? Visit for ideas. Brainstorm with your children about ways in which your community could use a grant from the Pepsi Refresh Project. What a wonderful way to get kids thinking about others in need! And don’t forget to talk about how your plan will be implemented if you receive a grant.
