Make Math Fun for Kids with Munchkin Math DVDs

Ask any child what her favorite subject is in school and she probably won’t say “math”! I remember math as being a rather “dry” subject when I was in school. I did well in it, but I really didn’t find it interesting. But Wendy Miller, a teacher and mom of three boys, is out to change math’s boring perception. She developed a series of fun DVDs for kids called Munchkin Math!

Munchkin Math DVDs are targeted to preschool and early-elementary school children, and are based on a program called Standout Math, a curriculum that is taught in more than 30 states. These videos use a multi-sensory approach—auditory, visual, and kinesthetic—to help kids not only understand math concepts, but also remember them. Check out the preview below of one of the Munchkin Math DVDs:

Currently, there are three different Munchkin Math titles: Shapes!, Telling Time!, and Counting Money! Unfortunately, my review copy was delayed in the holiday mail, but I logged on to YouTube to get a preview of these fun DVDs. I found them to be a very engaging way to introduce young children to math concepts and hopefully encourage a life-long love of math!

I encourage you to visit to learn more about these terrific DVDs, watch a video preview, and order one or more for your child. If your son or daughter is already in school, Munchkin Math DVDs are a valuable way to supplement what they are learning in the classroom. (And they won’t feel like homework!)

DISCLOSURE: I wrote this review while participating in a blog campaign by Mom Central on behalf of Munchkin Math and was sent a sample DVD to facilitate my candid review. Mom Central also sent me a gift card to thank me for taking the time to participate.
