Pencil Portraits of Your Children Make Beautiful Mother’s Day or Father’s Day Gifts!

My husband’s favorite gifts last Christmas were the hand-drawn pencil portraits I had made of our five-year-old twins. Portrait artist Darla Dixon does an incredible job of drawing portraits from photographs. I sent her recent photos of our twins, and she mailed back amazingly life-like drawings of the boys. The pictures now proudly hang in our home’s entryway along with our family photo.

If you’re looking for a unique and beautiful gift for Mother’s Day or Father’s Day, surprise your loved one with a pencil portrait of your children! Darla draws babies, children, adults, and even beloved pets! If a family member has passed away, she can draw a lovely portrait of them in remembrance. Single or multiple subjects can be shown in one picture. Darla did separate portraits of my twins so they could each have their own to keep when they are grown.

Darla has four children of her own, so she knows how important it is to have treasured keepsakes from childhood. My portraits will be family heirlooms that can be passed down through the generations. I encourage you to visit Darla’s website at to see more samples of her beautiful work and contact her. I know you’ll love her portraits as much as I love mine!
