Learn Irish -- and Many Other Languages -- from Rosetta Stone!

I took French all through high school and for a year in college. I was even our high school French Club’s president, and we went on trips to Montreal and France. So, am I fluent in French today? Not at all! When you’re trying to learn a language, no matter how much you study it, it’s difficult to get fluent if you’re not around people who speak it. That one hour of class each day just isn’t going to cut it. I think I’d be much more fluent today if I’d had access to the Rosetta Stone software. Their programs are fabulous!

I was recently given the chance to try out Rosetta Stone, and I was so impressed. They have more than 30 languages to choose from, including: Arabic, Chinese (Mandarin), Dutch, English (American and British), French, German, Greek, Hebrew, Hindi, Irish, Italian, Japanese, Korean, Persian (Farsi), Polish, Portuguese (Brazil), Russian, Spanish (Latin America and Spain), and Swedish. The program is extremely interactive. It uses beautiful photos, repetition, state-of-the-art speech recognition technology (to help you in pronunciation) and learning exercises to immerse you in the language you’re learning.

My college-aged son, who took French all through high school, checked out the French language database to see how much he could remember and understand. (I think he was pleasantly surprised!) He then went to the Russian database, a language of which he knows nothing, and got hooked on that. He really loved listening to the native pronunciation and viewing the clear pictures for each word/sentence he learned. I decided to try out the Japanese language course because I know how difficult Japanese can be for English speakers. I was amazed at how much I was actually learning!

The Rosetta Stone programs are especially helpful if you’re already taking a language course and want to practice your listening and speaking skills. I would have loved to have had this program when I was in French class. It’s also great if you’re planning a visit to another country and want to learn as much of the language as you can. You can do as much or as little as you want, and the lessons are divided into different skill levels, as well as into sections for Reading, Writing, Speaking and Listening. This program would also be a great place to start if you are considering learning a language and want to know if you’d like it. If your child is struggling with foreign language classes at school, this program would be a valuable contribution to their success.

In honor of St. Patrick’s Day, the makers of Rosetta Stone are giving everyone an opportunity to try out their program by offering free Irish lessons from March 12 (starting at 6 PM EST) through March 19. Just go to the home page at after 6:00 on March 12 and click on the registration link. It’s that easy! No purchase is required.

(NOTE: If you went on the site after 6 PM on March 12 and did not see the link, there was a slight delay in activating the offer. The offer is now available, so please return to and get your free Irish lessons!)

Rosetta Stone is used by NASA, the US State Department, the US Army, and millions of companies and classrooms worldwide.
