Introducing Dawn Publications’ New Books for Fall 2016!

It’s always a pleasure to introduce Dawn Publications’ new books each fall and spring. They’re beautifully written and illustrated, teach children about the natural world, and are educational. At the end of each book is an “Explore More” section that parents and teachers can use to help their children continue to learn about each topic. Following are the delightful new books for Fall 2016:

A Moon of My Own
By Jennifer Rustgi
Illustrated by Ashley White

A little girl has made friends with the moon! It follows her every night, and she loves to see what he will look like. Will he be bright or dark? Out in the open or hidden behind clouds? A round ball or a small sliver? Bonus material includes wonderful places around the world, phases of the moon, facts about the moon, and directions for creating a moon phase journal and moon art!

Over in the Grasslands: On an African Savanna
By Marianne Berkes
Illustrated by Jill Dubin

With sweet counting rhymes, children learn about the animals that live in the savanna, such as giraffes, hippos, lions, and jackals. Plus every page has a hidden animal that kids will love to find! Bonus material provides more information about the African Savanna and its animals, plus suggested activities and discussions from the author and illustrator. There’s even a song!

Octopus Escapes Again!
Written and Illustrated by Laurie Ellen Angus

An octopus has all kinds of defense mechanisms to escape its predators. When a sea turtle approaches, she can squeeze into the tiniest of places because she has no bones! When an eel comes after her, she releases a cloud of ink. She sucks in water and blasts off like a rocket when a shark comes near. She can even give up an “arm” when it’s grabbed by a predator because it will grow back. The octopus is a fascinating creature! Bonus material includes more information on the octopus and other ocean animals. Hands-on activities enhance children’s learning about the octopus.
