Children’s Book Review and Giveaway: "Riley the Golfer," by Dave Pilot (4 Winners)

Sports teach children many lessons besides just how to play the game. There’s a reason why we hear these same things over and over…

Never give up
I can do it
Try, try again
Practice makes perfect

…because they can all be learned through playing sports! Pro golfer Dave Pilot loves to teach these lessons to children (and adults) on the golf course, and he’s written his first children’s picture book to impart these lessons in a fun way.

Riley the Golfer is about a frog that is learning how to golf. His first ball goes into the water. His second ball goes into the trees. His third ball takes some crazy bounces but ultimately ends up in the hole! Riley realizes he may not get it right the first time, or even the second, but he can achieve his goals if he keeps trying. This book also has plenty of humor. A skunk holds his nose and tells Riley that his shot “stinks”! Riley’s ball almost hits a turtle and a goose, prompting a Bull Moose to tell everyone to hide! And the ball that lands in the hole bonks a mole on the head. And, of course, the sight of a golfing frog is humorous in itself.

Your child doesn’t have to be a golfer (although I encourage him or her to give it a try!) to benefit from the lessons in Riley the Golfer and enjoy the fun story. I hope you’ll pick up a copy of the book for your child, grandchild, or golf fan in your life! CLICK HERE to order.

  2. Id like to read this to my granddaughter and I'm sure my 7 yr old niece would like to read to me. Both my nieces play softball. It's important to teach them sportsmanship and how to play together as a team and do your best. They have learned that winning isn't everything, sometimes you lose and that's ok. Thank you for the chance :)
