Children’s Book Review and Giveaway: "Whatever Wanda!" by Christy Ziglar (Hardcover; US/CAN)

Bad attitudes are everywhere, and they can seriously affect our enjoyment of life. Wouldn’t it be great if all children could be taught how to adopt positive attitudes that they can carry through their lifetimes? Christy Ziglar has that mission in mind with her series of Shine Bright Kids books, which teach families about the importance of making good choices. In her newest book, Whatever Wanda!, readers learn about the value of being positive!

When Wanda finds out that it’s time for the annual Rubber Duck Days festival, she’s not too thrilled to hear that her family will participate, especially when they’re all wearing matching duck outfits! Whenever she’s presented with an opportunity to join in the festivities throughout the day, Wanda greets the news with a frown and says, “Whatever!” After a while, she begins to notice that her friends who have greeted the day enthusiastically are having a lot more fun than she is! Is an attitude adjustment in order?

Whatever Wanda! is a children’s book, but it teaches a lesson that we’re never too old to learn. I love the line in the book that says, “Sometimes you have to believe something WILL be great before it actually IS.” When you go into something expecting to have a lousy time, you probably will. But when you keep an open mind and are open to new experiences, you might be pleasantly surprised to find that it’s more fun than you expected! That’s what Wanda found out, and hopefully our children (and parents) will learn the same thing in reading Whatever Wanda!

You can find other titles in the Shine Bright Kids series HERE.

About the author: Christy Ziglar, financial planner, mother of twins, and niece of legendary motivator and the world’s original optimist, Zig Ziglar, is bringing the same timeless wisdom and ageless advice to an entirely new, younger audience through her Shine Bright Kids picture book series. Christy, her husband, and their twins live in Atlanta, Georgia.
