About the movie:
Zoey, a thirteen-year-old foster child, watches her foster family’s dog get stolen while she’s in charge! The criminals, a pair of Home Alone like thugs, are after the mutt because he is a famous show dog. Zoey runs away from the desert on a cross-country adventure with her techy new friend in order to track down the dog and save the relationship with her foster family. Throughout the film, Zoey must dig in and fight for the life she’s always wanted, undergoing sudden personal growth in the process.
This film was slow-going at first, but once Zoey met her new foster family, it picked up speed. Zoey made a lot of poor choices throughout the movie, but many of them were a result of her lack of trust in people due to her background. The more she came to realize that her newest family was going to be permanent, the better she became at looking to others for help. Although there are “bad guys” who steal the dog, parents don’t have to worry about violence or inappropriate content.
Here’s another interesting tidbit about this film!
Zoey to the Max stars newcomer Cassidy Mack, who also spent her early years in the foster care system just like her character, Zoey. She started the non-profit foundation, Love Gives Chances, to inspire all children and adults who are currently living in, have been adopted from or have aged out of the foster care system and encourages them to not lose hope. For every supporter pendant purchased through the charity, Cassidy sends a survivor pendant to a foster youth or former foster youth who needs to feel empowered.
