Not only does the SentrySafe Extra Large Digital Alarm Fire Safe (Model No. SFW123TDC) provide protection against flooding and fire, but it also deters theft thanks to its alarm feature. Any time the safe is picked up or moved, someone attempts to pry open the door, the wrong combination is entered 5 times, or the safe is hit or jolted, a loud alarm sounds. I like that you can adjust the alarm’s sensitivity, where “0” means the alarm only sounds for incorrect codes, while a “5” means the alarm is very sensitive to the slightest movement. You can also adjust the alarm’s duration, from 1-99 minutes.
The SentrySafe Alarm Safe is also programmable with up to three codes: the factory code, plus two codes of your choice. The safe requires 4 AAA batteries, but there’s a handy feature called a battery auxiliary override that still allows you to open the safe with a 9 volt battery if you let the battery power run too low and you can’t open the safe. And I love the SentrySafe Lifetime After-Fire Replacement Guarantee! If your SentrySafe is in a fire, it will need to be pried open. Fortunately, SentrySafe will ship a new unit of equal value to replace it!
Here are some other things to know about the SentrySafe:
• Moisture: Moisture in the air can be sealed into safes, especially in regions with high humidity (like my home in Florida!). Opening the door of your safe periodically can help keep the moisture from accumulating inside, which can cause molding issues. Keeping a charged desiccant bag inside the safe can also be helpful from keeping your belongings dry. These bags need to be recharged in the oven or replaced every 3-6 months depending on the humidity in your region.
• Pearls: A lot of people store valuable jewelry and heirlooms inside their safe, but pearls are very sensitive to heat. In the event of a fire, potential damage to delicate pearls occurs at much lower temperatures. Therefore, it’s best not to store pearls in your safe.
• Valuables with Working Parts: Anything that’s valuable with moving parts, such as watches or some jewelry, should be stored in an airtight container while in your safe. This will help keep the working parts from developing any moisture on them and causing damage.
My husband and I are really impressed with the SentrySafe Alarm Safe. We feel good knowing that our family’s valuables have a much better chance of survival if our home is affected by flooding, fire or theft. CLICK HERE to learn more about the alarm safes available from SentrySafe.
