Movie Review and Giveaway: R. L. Stine’s Mostly Ghostly: Have You Met My Ghoulfriend? (5 Winners)

R.L. STINE’S MOSTLY GHOSTLY:
HAVE YOU MET MY GHOULFRIEND?
On Blu-ray™ Combo Pack with DVD, Digital HD & Ultraviolet™
on September 2 from Universal Studios Home Entertainment!

About the movie:
A young magician and his two otherworldly best friends do some supernatural sleuthing in R. L. Stine’s Mostly Ghostly: Have You Met My Ghoulfriend? Bella Thorne (Shake It Up!, Gook Luck Charlie), Madison Pettis (Lab Rats, Beverly Hills Chihuahua 3) and Ryan Ochoa (Pair of Kings, The Perfect Game) lead an ensemble cast in this spooktacular adventure with new ghosts, new thrills, and the return of some old friends. Max (Ryan Ochoa) only has eyes for Cammy (Bella Thorne), the smart, popular redhead at school. When Max finally scores a date with Cammy on Halloween, Phears, an evil ghost with plans on taking over the world, unleashes his ghouls and things go haywire. With the help of his ghostly pals, Tara and Nicky, can Max thwart Phears’s evil plot, help reunite his ghost friends with their long-lost parents and still make his date with Cammy on Halloween? R.L. Stein’s Mostly Ghostly: Have You Met My Ghoulfriend? is frightful family fun!

My thoughts:
Fans of R.L. Stine’s popular series of children’s books will love this movie as it combines just the right amount of spookiness, family, and fun. The villain, Phears, may be a little too spooky for younger children, especially when he raises a very realistic-looking corpse from the dead, but its campiness will entertain children who understand that it’s all just for fun. Kids will relate to Max’s rivalry with his brother and his attempts to fit in at school, made more difficult because he keeps talking to his two ghost friends, which nobody else can see! There are plenty of humorous moments and lots of action that will keep children watching from beginning to end, like my boys did.
