You Are (Not) Small: Children’s Book Review and Giveaway!

Title: You Are (Not) Small
Author: Anna Kang
Illustrator: Christopher Weyant
Publisher: Two Lions/Amazon Publishing
Publication Date: August 5, 2014
Ages/Grades: 2-6/Grades Pre-2

Have you ever noticed that everything looks different through a child’s eyes? To a child, adults look BIG, but to adults, children look SMALL. That’s the premise that runs through the simple but joyful picture book, You Are (Not) Small. Two fuzzy creatures and their pals insist that it is the other creatures who are different … the bigger creatures say that the others are small, while the smaller creatures say that the others are big! Suddenly, a gigantic foot steps between them and settles the argument once and for all: Compared to him, they are ALL small! And when some teeny creatures parachute onto the scene, suddenly all of the other creatures are big! It’s all a matter of perspective.

This adorably illustrated picture book will delight children with its colorful pictures and the opportunity to shout “Big!” and “Small!” as Mom or Dad read along! And the story aids parents and kids in discussing the differences -- and various perspectives -- as to what is considered big and small in children’s lives. Does your child think that his bed looks big? Well, compared to his parents’ bed, it’s really small! You Are (Not) Small is lots of fun to read and talk about together at bedtime.
