What Are Your Health and Fitness Goals for 2014? Giveaway for a Master Lock Combination Padlock! #LSSS

During the month of January, we often reflect on our health and fitness goals. Did we succeed at our efforts to become more fit and eat healthier during the past year? Or do we need to set or renew our goals for the following year? For myself, I’m fairly happy with my 2013 efforts. My friend and I started walking several miles together 3-5 days per week. It took a while, but I have started to notice a real difference in my health. Not only do I breathe better (I was always out of breath before), but many people have told me I look like I’ve lost some weight. I put on an older pair of jeans yesterday that had been getting tight, and they fit comfortably!

As for eating, I’ve never been a big eater or snacker, but one of my goals was to give up the nightly ice-cream treat. Although I love ice cream, I’ve always felt bloated when I eat a lot of it, and I feel much better now that ice cream is a rare treat. Previously, I was finding that I had to buy more and more size 10 clothes, so I’m thrilled that my size 8s are starting to fit again. This is really motivating me to keep up my efforts in 2014! So, what could I do better next year? Even though I don’t overeat, the food I do eat is primarily junk. I’m a lazy cook, so I often reach for the prepared and processed foods, and I rarely eat vegetables. So, I’m hoping to improve the quality of my food in 2014. Wish me luck!

What about you? I hope you’ll take this time of year to reflect on your health and fitness achievements (and setbacks) from the previous year. If you’re not happy with what you accomplished, rejoice in the fact that a new year is a time for new beginnings! It’s never too late to get back on track. Set small goals, like I did with my walking program, and slowly increase them as you’re able. Get a friend to help you reach your goals. My friend and I both credit each other with forcing ourselves to walk even on those days when we’d rather sit on the couch. Be patient with yourself and your progress this year, and you just might see some great results for your efforts in 2014!

By the way, if one of your goals this year is to join a gym (or use your current membership more often), I have a great giveaway for you from Master Lock!
