Christmas Movie Review and Giveaway: Coming Home for Christmas! (US/CAN)

My TiVo is working overtime this year trying to record all of the wonderful Christmas movies on TV. I just love these feel-good movies. So, it’s no surprise that I loved a holiday film I recently received for review: Coming Home for Christmas! In this movie, two sisters, Kate and Melanie, haven’t spoken to each other in years after Kate walked out on Melanie’s wedding. This estrangement, along with financial difficulties, has also caused a rift between their parents, who have separated. In order to get their parents back together, the sisters realize they have to work at patching up their relationship and team up in their efforts to reunite their parents. A good place to start, they decide, is by recreating the family Christmases they loved at their former family home. There’s just one problem: That home was foreclosed on and is now owned by someone else. Fortunately, the new owner is incredibly cute and single, and he just might be persuaded by the equally single Kate to open up his home… Watch the trailer below:

Kate and Melanie are played by real-life sisters Britt and Carly McKillip, who do some lovely singing in the movie, along with country singer and actor, George Canyon, who plays their father. The mother is played by Amy Jo Johnson, whom you may remember as the original Pink Power Ranger! This movie has it all -- romance, drama, holiday spirit, and humor. I highly recommend it! Coming Home for Christmas is available on DVD at Walmart and includes a large postcard-sized reproduction of a limited edition Norman Rockwell print! Pick up a copy for Family Movie Night or as a gift for family and friends!

  12. A Very Parent Trap Christmas: The Yuppie Years. :)

Seriously, though - even though it has every cliche known to Hallmark, it actually looks like it's pretty well done, which is nice, because the people who usually like these kinds of movies have to put up with a lot of really bad ones. So we have to support the good ones! :)

  18. Looks like a really great movie, but I am having a hard time believing that Amy Jo Johnson could be a mom with kids that age! I just googled her, and had NO clue she was 3 years older than I am. She looks so young, I remember her from Felicity and always thought she was younger than me!

  30. It was comical but true when the lady stated she was married happily for 22 years and she had been married 27 years. Marriage has its good and bad tomes but usually works out if both partners remain faithful.
