Mitchell Goes Bowling: Children’s Book Review and Giveaway (US/CAN)

Did you know that October is National Learn to Bowl Month? Kids love to go bowling (if all of the children’s birthday parties we’ve attended at the local bowling alley are any indication), and this is a great month to take your kids bowling. It’s also the perfect time to check out the new children’s book, Mitchell Goes Bowling, by Hallie Durand.

Four-year-old Mitchell was always knocking things down at home, so his dad figured that a bowling alley would be the perfect place for him! Mitchell loved the bowling alley -- the crashing noises, special shoes, colorful balls -- but the slippery lanes took a little getting used to! Mitchell’s dad always earned an “X” by knocking down all the pins, which he followed up with a “steamin’-hot-potato dance”! Mitchell really wanted to get an X, too, but bowling was harder than he thought. He was ready to quit until his dad suggested they be on the same team. It was an awesome suggestion because Mitchell couldn’t lose with Dad on his team! After getting a strike together, they did a “triple steamin’-hot-potato dance, with salsa!” Mitchell Goes Bowling shows kids not only the joy of bowling, but also the fun of hanging out with Dad and the benefits of teamwork. Children will laugh out loud at the illustrations by Tony Fucile showing Mitchell and his dad doing their fancy leg kicks as they bowl and, of course, their silly dance when the pins go down! This is a delightful book that will inspire kids to head to the bowling alley!

About the author:
Hallie Durand is the author of Mitchell’s License, now available in paperback as Mitchell Goes Driving, among other books for children. About Mitchell Goes Bowling, she says, "I love hanging out at the lanes with my crew, especially when I get a couple of Xs!" She lives with her family in Maplewood, New Jersey. I've only bowled a handful of times in my life and I'm terrible at it. It's not something my family does. Now I can't really bowl since I can't pick up anything more than about 5lbs in my right hand, and grasping anything is painful. Thanks for the giveaway.
