I recently had the opportunity to read the book, Zangadoo Kangaroo and the Mysterious Boomerang, by Karin Lee. This engaging chapter book was delightful, and I know that your kids will love it!

About the book:
Zangadoo feels invisible because he thinks his baby brother Joey gets all the attention from his parents. But he is surprised and delighted when his father entrusts him with a family heirloom -- an old wooden boomerang! But when his wombat friend throws the boomerang at the playground, it gets stuck in the top of a very tall tree. Zangadoo leaps as high as he can to get the boomerang when he suddenly disappears! Somehow, he has jumped all the way to the Outback while clutching his dad’s boomerang. In the Outback, he meets interesting animals like Barnaby Budgie, Corky Crocodile, and Emily Emu. Meanwhile, Zangadoo’s friends from the playground start looking for him and finally find him in the Outback. Suddenly, a pack of dingoes threatens them. Fortunately, Zangadoo’s dad has come looking for them in his bush plane. He buzzes the dingoes, and they are scared away. Then Zangadoo’s dad takes him and his friends home in the plane. Back home, Zangadoo and his dad have a long talk, and his dad confesses that the boomerang has special power (which is why Zangadoo jumped so high that he ended up in the Outback)! And after having a really good talk together, Zangadoo doesn’t feel invisible in his home anymore. At the end of the book is a fun Aussie Glossary of Australian words and phrases.

Available as a Paperback or eBook

Actually my sister and I spent a couple weeks in Australia when I was about 19, many years ago now. We went to Perth in the west and Melbourne. So what do I know, I know it's an island continent, that they play cricket, used to be a penal colony for Britain, that Canberra is the capital, are part of the Commonwealth and like a lot of ex-british colonies have a parlimentary system of government. Thanks for the giveaway.
