Children’s Book Review and Giveaway ~ Little Angels: Prayers for Every Day, by Roma Downey

There aren’t a lot of prayers written for children of preschool age, which is why I was excited to hear about the publication of Prayers for Every Day, part of Roma Downey’s Little Angels series for kids! (You may remember Roma Downey from the Touched by an Angel television series. Or perhaps you’ve started watching her new miniseries on History Channel: The Bible!) This adorable board book with the cushioned cover features 50 easy rhyming prayers that children can say throughout the day. For example, here’s a sweet prayer for morning:

Dear Jesus,

I thank you for this morning.

I thank you for this day.

I thank you for your kindness,

And for your loving ways.

Amen!

Here’s a prayer for helping children to handle their anger:

Dear God,

Sometimes I’m not quite sure

What to do when I feel mad.

I ask you please to help me,

So instead I can feel glad.

Amen!

And here’s a sweet bedtime prayer:

Dear Jesus,

Thank you for this lovely day!

I had an awesome time.

I’m grateful for my blessings,

And I hope you like this rhyme!

Amen!

There are also prayers for comfort, forgiveness, guidance, help, mealtimes, and more! All of the prayers are as simple as those above so that little children can learn them by heart as they say them every day. Parents can also pick out ones that will help their children overcome certain issues, such as being scared of the dark or having a sad friend. And I love the cute illustrations of twins Alex and Zoe, as well as their Little Angels, by Lisa Reed. They’re sweet and colorful, and perfect for catching the eye of preschoolers!
