Book Review: Thoughts to Make Your Heart Sing, by Sally Lloyd-Jones

Sally Lloyd-Jones, author of the bestselling Jesus Storybook Bible, has a new Bible-based book out that’s just as delightful: Thoughts to Make Your Heart Sing! Beautifully illustrated by Jago, the same illustrator for the Jesus Storybook Bible, this book shares 101 simple but profound thoughts about God and faith as told in the Bible. I love that this book will touch both adults and children. Here’s a sample page and illustration:

Sometimes bad thoughts just land in your head from nowhere. Is having an awful thought a sin?

When Jesus was tempted in the desert, Satan whispered awful thoughts and lies to Jesus to tempt him away from God.

It’s not the thoughts that count; it’s what we do with those thoughts. Jesus didn’t listen to those awful thoughts. He didn’t believe them. He sent them away.

An old proverb says, “You can’t help it if birds come and land on your head. But you don’t have to let them build nests in your hair!”

“We take captive every thought to make it obedient to Christ.” 2 CORINTHIANS 10:5 (NIV)

P.S. Along with a sampler of this book, I also received some luscious French-milled baby soap called “All of My Heart” from Noodle & Boo. I’m going to use this soap myself because I absolutely love the sweet powdery smell! I’ve actually been a fan of Noodle & Boo products for a while. I use their Conditioning Hair Polish on my boys’ hair to tame cowlicks and bed head. It works like a dream and smells just as delicious as the soap. Please check out their products at
