Are You a Different Mom the Second Time Around? Enjoy These Videos and a Giveaway from Luvs Diapers! (2 Winners)

I’m betting that most of us who have more than one child would say that we were more relaxed about parenting the second time around. Sure, we worried about having the time and love for a second kid, but when it came to the basics of caring for a baby, we knew we’d do fine. With the first baby, we stressed about whether our child was getting enough nourishment. We panicked at the thought of being unprepared for a meltdown while out in public. And we hated to be away from our babies for more than absolutely necessary. With the second kid, well, we had the “mommy thing” under control. We knew our baby wasn’t going to starve, that we could withstand the dirty looks when our child had a tantrum, and that babysitting offers were definitely welcome! In other words, the longer we were a mother, the more confidence we gained in our parenting skills.

Luvs has developed a series of hilarious videos showcasing this “First Kid/Second Kid” phenomenon that happens to most mothers. Check out their newest video, which shows how a new mom approaches breastfeeding with her second child compared to when she had her first child!

[Email subscribers, please click on the title of this post to view the video online.]

The other delightful videos in this series -- “Temperature,” “Park,” and “Changing Station” -- can be found on Luvs’ YouTube channel at www.youtube.com/user/luvsdiapers. They’re sure to make you chuckle and nod in agreement. I think I could relate to all of them! One of the things I recall stressing over with my first baby was whether his formula was the right temperature. Breast milk, of course, was no problem. But when I had to give him formula, I didn’t want it to be too hot or too cold. I’d be shaking that bottle all over my arm to test it! With my second child, I didn’t even bother to heat it! He was perfectly content with room-temperature formula. After all, that was how his breast milk was served (right from my body)! It made my life easier, and my baby was well-fed and happy.

How were you a more relaxed mommy the second (or third or fourth…) time around? Take a walk down memory lane, and then read on for the opportunity to win some fantastic Luvs diapers for your little one!

Two lucky winners will each receive a pack of Luvs jumbo diapers (size 4 only, retails for $8-11 each with approximately 31 diapers/pack)! I relate most to the Park video. I'm going to be a new mom and have already found myself over-planning in my head for outings and such - then realizing that baby will be fine for a little while without 30,000 extra items and my life would certainly be easier!

  3. I related to Luvs - Park the best because with my first grandson I felt like we packed the entire house just to run a short errand. Once my 2nd grandson came along we were much more relaxed and only took the essentials!

  16. I love the breastfeeding one. I am not one who would whip my breast out like that but I was a little shy and hiding with the first and I didn't care as much with my second. I was busy feeding and chasing a toddler around at the same time.
