Scholastic and The 39 Clues Celebrate the Holidays with a Week-Long Series of New eBooks! (GIVEAWAY)

If you’ve got kids between the ages of 7-12, you’ve likely heard of the hugely popular book series, The 39 Clues. This is a “multi-platform” series because it’s a combination of exciting books, collectible trading cards, and an online game. More than 10 million copies of the books have been sold, and there are more than 1.6 million registered users from 191 countries at www.the39clues.com. The series is even coming to the movie theater!

So, what is the story behind The 39 Clues series? The Cahills were once the most powerful family in the world, but the source of their power was lost when Grace Cahill, the last matriarch of the Cahills, changed her will minutes before she died. She left her descendants with an impossible decision: either receive a million dollars or a clue. The first Cahill who assembles all 39 clues hidden around the world will learn the secret of what makes the family so powerful. Readers follow fourteen-year-old Amy Cahill and her eleven-year-old brother, Dan, in a race to find the clues. The books also feature famous historical figures, such as Benjamin Franklin, Wolfgang Amadeus Mozart, Amelia Earhart and William Shakespeare.

And if your kids have already read the eleven books in the original series, they’ll be thrilled to know that a new series is beginning: The 39 Clues: Cahills vs. Vespers. In August, they released Book 1: The Medusa Plot by #1 New York Times bestselling author Gordon Korman. The final book in the new six-book series will be written by bestselling author David Baldacci.

And here’s more awesome news for The 39 Clues fans. Beginning on Christmas Day, December 25, 2011, they’ll be releasing a week-long series of eBooks based on the series. It’s called “Seven Days, Seven Stories -- One Explosive Secret,” and codes hidden in each of the seven stories can be combined to unlock an exclusive card and medal on www.the39clues.com. Learn more details about this exciting event at www.the39clues.com/rapidfire. Be sure to mark your calendars and remember to check for the first eBook on Christmas Day!
