When getting your child ready for Kindergarten, it is important to bring you child to the school for the registration day offered usually in May or June. They usually have activites for the kids to do. These days get kids really excited about going to school. Also, in the summer, take your child to the playground at the school to get them used to the surroundings. If you always speak positively about going to school and make it sound exciting, your child will make the transition easily.

My school readiness tip is to visit the school prior to the first day with your child and meet the teacher, locate bathrooms, the lunch room, etc. It makes it much easier when kid's aren't going into their first day 'blind'.

i have 5 kids, 3 are in elementary school and when they started k we would take them out to buy their own alarm clock. sounds like something simple and basic for most families but its something the kids liked to do. we also start the earlier bedtimes about 3 days prior to school starting. 2 nights before we go through and make sure they have everything they need and all their backpacks are ready.its a pretty basic transition for us.
ReplyDeletelike PBS on Facebook
ReplyDeleteWe start talking about transitions before they happen, what will be different, what we're looking forward to. Picking out special objects such as first day clothes or a new backpack can help too
ReplyDeleteHI Susan!
ReplyDeleteI think my best tip for transitioning back to school is to make kids a part of the process by letting them help choose supplies, clothing, and preparing them ahead of time. Also I think by continuing educational activities and keeping decent bedtimes throughout the summer months so it's not such a shock. :)
Thanks so much for the opportunity to win in this giveaway!
