July Is National Park and Recreation Month! Celebrate with This Dinosaur Train Giveaway!

Since 1985, America has celebrated July as the nation’s official Park and Recreation Month. The theme for this year’s celebration is “Rock Your Park”! You can celebrate your love of the great outdoors this month by visiting your local park, a playground, or a swimming pool, or taking a family trip to one of our national park treasures! Buddy from PBS KIDS’ award-winning Dinosaur Train program will also be spending time in the great outdoors in July! In a recent episode, “Buddy the Tracker,” Buddy and Don were “footprint detectives” as they tracked and found creatures they knew at the Big Pond. The plot thickened when they discovered fossilized tracks that were millions of years old! Look for repeats of the show on your local PBS KIDS station. And get ready for an all-new season of Dinosaur Train this August when “Dinosaur Big City” premieres on August 22nd, and the DVD, Dinosaur Train: Dinosaur Big City, is released on August 23rd (SRP: $14.99).

During Park and Recreation Month, you can also turn your visit to the local park into a game by participating in the Dinosaur Train Geocache Challenge. Geocaching is a family-friendly outdoor adventure that blends technology, gaming and environmental discovery. Each geocache features one of the dinosaurs found on the online Dinosaur Train Field Guide and contains educational information related to that dinosaur. You might want to pick your local park as a destination to hide your own Dinosaur Train container!
