Get Your Kids Excited About Vegetables with Growums Garden Kits!

Did you know that 98 percent of kids who grow their own vegetables will eat them? (Source: American Gardening Association) That’s an amazing statistic and definitely worth pursuing. An easy way to do so is with Growums Garden Kits! The best way to explain them is through this brief video. Take a look!

There are six fun kits to choose from: Herb Garden, Pizza Garden, Salad Garden, Stir-Fry Garden, Taco Garden, and Ratatouille Garden. My kids and I received the Taco Garden kit for review. One of the things I love about Growums Garden Kits is that they are SO easy to set up. I do not have a green thumb, so I was a little worried that I would mess up this project, but thankfully that didn’t happen! Here is what our pellets looked like when we first took them out of the packaging:

All you do is place them in a dish and pour in some water. The pellets soak up the water and grow! My kids loved that part. Here’s what they looked like afterward.

Then you push some seeds (all included) into the top of the pellet, insert the cute ID tags, and wait.

Soon, our little plants started sprouting! We now have tomato, cilantro, lettuce and jalapeno plants.

Pretty soon, we’ll be ready to plant our crops in the ground or a planter. My boys are really looking forward to seeing real tomatoes and peppers!

Honestly, we were so excited about this project that we FORGOT that there is also a free interactive website included with the kit! When you register at www.growums.com, colorful characters show your kids how to care for their vegetables. Mini-videos are updated every ten days with tips on what to expect during each stage of your seedlings’ growth. Weekly emails include information on watering, weeding, growth cycles, and more. They even have games planned for the site, like Garden Idol (an American Idol-themed game) and Bag-a-Bug! There are also fundraising opportunities for your organization, club or school group.

My boys are having so much fun with their Growums Garden Kit. For the first time, even my “picky kid” is excited about vegetables! I hope you’ll check out this fantastic product through the links below.
