First, if you’re not acquainted yet with The 39 Clues series, for ages 8-12, here’s what it’s all about:
The 39 Clues is a series of adventure books published by Scholastic. The main part of the series consists of ten books about the adventures of siblings Amy and Dan Cahill. They agree to the challenge in their grandmother Grace Cahill’s will and search for 39 clues scattered around the world.
The 39 Clues is a groundbreaking, multi-media adventure series that spans 10 adrenaline-charged books, hundreds of collectible cards, and an online game that allows readers to play a part in the story and compete for prizes. (My sister told me that her son really enjoys the game!) Another interesting fact is that these books have different authors. Book 1 of The 39 Clues series, called The Maze of Bones, was written by Rick Riordan, who also wrote the best-selling series, Percy Jackson & the Olympians. Book 1 of that series, The Lightning Thief, was recently made into a movie! And this is really cool: Movie rights for The 39 Clues have been acquired by DreamWorks Studios with Steven Spielberg eyeing to direct!
On April 6, 2010, Scholastic will be releasing Book 8 in the series. Fortunately, a video has just surfaced that shows reporter William Michaels in an exclusive interview with Gordon Korman, author of Book 8: The Emperor’s Code. Gordon reveals extraordinary information: There are vital hints concealed in the artwork on the cover of Book 8 that could expose the location of the next clue! Examine the artwork carefully, and your family could find out where the Book 8 clue is hidden! Check out the interview in this video:
(Email subscribers: You may need to click on the title of this post to access the video on my blog.)
To learn more about this amazing series, visit www.the39clues.com. You can also pre-order the book on Amazon. Scholastic is sending me the first book in the series, which I am really excited to read, but I have an even better opportunity for all of you! Read on…

I have a son in third grade this year. When I bought him the wimpy kid series, I had finally found a book that my son "wanted" to read instead of having to read! I think the 39 clues is going to be my son's next "must read"!
