I recently posted a review of a fantastic new series of children’s books called Tales from the Back Pew by Mike Thaler. This is a series of four books (and counting), including:
The Preacher Creature Strikes on Sunday
Mission Trip Impossible
Easter Egg Haunt
Church Summer Cramp
Well, I just realized that I forgot to include the giveaway! I have two extra copies of Church Summer Cramp. In this book, a church youth group is going on a retreat! It doesn’t sound like much fun to the kid in the book because it’s out in the woods, which is filled with mosquitoes and poison ivy! But he soon finds out that you can also feel closer to God in the midst of nature. And he won’t get lost because they’ve got GPS -- God’s Protecting Son! This is a highly entertaining book that you and your kids will really enjoy.
You can read more about Mike Thaler and his terrific books at www.mikethaler.com.
So, better late than never, here’s how to win one of two copies of this awesome book:
REQUIRED ENTRY: Leave a comment on this post briefly describing a memorable vacation, retreat or camping trip you’ve taken. Did your tent get blown over? Did you share your campground with a bees’ nest? Did you get on the wrong flight? Share your experience!

We had a lovely vacation a few years back with our toddler and her older sisters. We visited the mountains in TN. We visited the caverns near there. She was a lil' afraid when the guide turned out all the lights and all we could here was water dripping.

ReplyDeleteI remember a youth trip to Carowinds as a kid, where almost everyone got sick in the church van on the way home. Ugh.
ReplyDeleteThere was the year in Glacier, we crawled into the tent and sleeping bags at 4:30 p.m. (because it was raining) and I said, "Gosh, I hope that's just cold." It wasn't. Rain, two small kids, rain, nowhere to go, rain, much water in the tent, rain...
ReplyDeleteWhen I was seven, I went on my first camping trip. Our group accidentally walked into a bees nest and some of the girls got stung, so we had to call the whole thing off. Thanks for the giveaway!

ReplyDeleteLast year our very expensive tent blew down on us during a storm. We had to hurry out of it, leave our items behind, and go home. We went back the next day to find our tent unrepairable and items soaked. That's why we bought a camper for this year!

This looks like a fun book! My memories are of sleeping in a 6-man tent with my 7-member family as a kid. My brother, being the only boy, always had to sleep at the foot of the tent while the rest of us lined up above him. So if there was ever a slope, he was at the bottom. And one night it rained, and water got in the tent and he was in a puddle. He still hates camping, and he's 44...

Our favorite vacation was when we took the kids to Florida 2 years ago. We did the whole tourist thing - did disney, swamp rides, gatorland and more places like that. Out of it all the kids loved the beach the most! It was free and right there and that was their favorite part. figures :)
ReplyDeleteThank you for the chance

My sister and I went camping with our grandparents in a tent. Gramma was a clean freak so we spent alot of time trying to place our toilet paper so it would not slide into the outhouse hole before you could sit down. Thank goodness for running water!!

What an interesting series (never heard of it before).
ReplyDeleteWe had a camping trip this past Feb when our power went out and our house fell below freezing. We went camping in the office. With sleeping bags and air mattresses, the kids had a great time camping in the boardroom. Now we do a camping in trip a few times during the winter months.
Cheers

We went to Cancun in February and we swam with the dolphins, went to Chichen Itza and we saw the pyramids. Two years ago we went to Africa, Sahara, rode the camels and later to Venice, had the whole gondola experience...
