Making the Bible Fun for Kids (and Bible Trading Cards Giveaway)

If you’re a Christian parent, you want to teach your children about the Bible but, let’s face it, it’s not exactly a children’s book! Even for adults, the Bible can be tough to read. Following are some great products I’ve received that can help in introducing Bible stories and concepts to our children:

Time4Felt Felt Sets

This company has a very extensive line of felt sets featuring stories and characters from the Bible. Unlike some of the other Bible felt collections, these sets are organized by story. For example, they have Daniel and the Lions Den; David and Goliath; Noah and the Ark; Jonah and the Whale; The Birth of Jesus; The Story of Job; The Story of Ruth and Esther; and many more! My kids and I have The Story of Moses. The pictures are in brilliant full color, and my children really enjoy talking about what is happening in each scene and trying to put them in order as we discuss the story of Moses. These felts are wonderful teaching tools for parents and fun toys for kids. They also make a terrific gift for Sunday School teachers or teachers at Christian schools! Visit http://www.time4felt.com/bible-set.html to see their full collection of amazing Bible sets.

Questions from Little Hearts (book)

This beautiful book by Kathleen Long Bostrom is actually a combination of four of her Little Blessings books. It answers four questions frequently asked by children: What is God like? What is prayer? What about heaven? And, Are angels real? The questions are answered through lovely rhyming text and delightful, multicultural pictures (illustrated by Elena Kucharik). Best of all, the answers are all Biblically based. At the end of each section, Bible references are provided so parents can show that the answers in each poem come directly from the Bible. My children and I love reading Questions from Little Hearts together. Visit http://files.tyndale.com/thpdata/FirstChapters/978-1-4143-2998-7.pdf to read an excerpt from this delightful book.

Creation by Design Bible Trading Cards

If your kids are into trading cards, whether it’s sports or Pokemon, they’ll be delighted with Creation by Design’s Bible Trading Cards. Each card is illustrated with an eye-catching piece of art. Interesting details relating the Bible to literature, history and science are on the back of each card. A timeline is also included for historical context. For example, the card for “Judah” features a picture of a lion and a flag with a lion on the front. On the back, there’s a family tree showing how Judah is the fourth son of Jacob and Leah. Under “Fun Facts,” it says, “The flag for this Tribe is the Lion, as Judah is compared to a lion in the text, with the might of a lion and the audacity of its cubs.” It further explains the symbolism of the lion and Judah’s family history. Kids can collect these unique and fun cards by purchasing them by the packet, the box or the case. And more cards are coming! They’re currently publishing Bible Cards from the Old Testament and will begin on the New Testament soon. Visit www.mybiblecards.com for more information.

  1. Since I'm on a 3 year study thru the books of Daniel, Thessalonians, and Revelation (Prophetic books), my current favorites are both from Daniel - Daniel and the Lion's Den and The Three Men in the Fiery Furnace. My grandkids and I have enjoyed talking about these stories, reading them, and I am often busy praying for them AND me that we can all be strong Daniels in the face of trials!

Joshua and the Battle of Jericho is my favorite Bible story. I have many, but my son's name is Joshua, so this one really appeals to him for just that reason, making it one of my favorites, as well.
